From Diet Burnout to Food Freedom—And Now I Help Other Women Do the Same
I started dieting when I was 11 years old—and I never really stopped. I tried every program out there, constantly worrying about what I ate and feeling guilty with every bite. In high school, my weight made me feel so ashamed that I skipped both junior and senior proms.
I didn’t like how I looked, and I didn’t feel good in my own skin. By my twenties, I lost 100 pounds on a strict diet, but it came at a cost—multiple abdominal surgeries and a roller coaster of health issues. Over the years, my weight went up and down as I continued to eat less and exercise more (just like I was told to do) and battled chronic infections, digestive issues, fibromyalgia, brain fog, and constant fatigue. I kept trying, but nothing seemed to work.
My turning point was the day I broke down in the doctor’s office after gaining 40 pounds in a year. After looking at my labs she said I was fine. As the tears came streaming down my face with that news I knew—I was not fine.
I needed to get off the diet roller coaster. I needed to stop obsessing about food. I needed to stop depriving myself. I needed to stop counting calories. I needed to learn why I was allowing the scale to dictate how I lived life. So I learned the science behind how the body actually works and what fuel it needs to work its best.
With a new outlook on health and wellness, I lost 15 pounds in 6 months and woke up less and less during the night. I was finally working WITH my body. I’ve reduced my fibromyalgia flares, GI issues, chronic infections and continue to heal 1% each day. I finally feel and see that I’m doing the right thing.
Having learned about the science-backed concept of blood sugar stabilization from the PFC3 program, combined with my education and professional experience in counseling, nursing, psychology, and wound care, I knew I could help other women get off the diet roller coaster while managing their chronic pain and illnesses to become the best versions of themselves.
